We attended MOPA Geelong today with our 2-year-old daughter. Given our past experience at MOPA Sandringham, we booked in advance, as the venue, particularly in Sandringham, tends to fill up quickly. They strictly adhere to a set number of kids, ensuring a controlled and safe play environment. The cost was $52 for two adults and one child, granting us a two-hour play session.
Play Areas & Layout
The play areas are housed within a heritage building, giving it a unique and charming atmosphere. The venue consists of a main play space, soft play area, rear play area, café, outdoor space, and upstairs play zones.
In our view, MOPA Geelong offers everything Sandringham does and more. The smaller size creates a cozy and engaging environment, making it feel inviting and exciting. While still on the expensive side, the experience was well worth it.
Our Experience
Our daughter was highly engaged throughout the visit. She particularly enjoyed the screen walls and the colored tunnel that lights up as she runs through, which led to a fantastic game of chasing each other around.
We spent some time in the soft play space, but she quickly lost interest and moved on. Upstairs, we explored geometric tunnels and danced to APT in the dress-up space. To wind down, we finished our visit reading a book in the quiet space upstairs.
A Small Drawback
The only downside, though more specific to our daughter’s preferences, was the lack of a slide like the one in Sandringham. She kept climbing sloped objects and trying to slide down them, which seemed to be more of a personal fixation than a design flaw.
Final Thoughts
MOPA Geelong is absolutely worth the time and effort to visit, especially if you're in the area. It offers a highly engaging and exploratory experience for toddlers and even older kids. There’s so much to explore, and the coffee is great too!
Highly recommended!
